Music to Lose your Soul By

While I generally abhor songfic, I always have music playing when I write. So, I thought to myself , "Self, you should list some of your favorites, let the masses know what they're missing." And while it is hard to always remember what I was listening to when each of my fics were written, I do have some staples that I just can't live without. So, without further adieu, the list:

Michelle Shocked: Deep Natural - Best song: Forgive to Forget, soulful, bluesy, great for love scenes.
Godsmack -  Best song: Voodoo, hard, beat ridden power-rock, also great for hardcore sex scenes and fight scenes.
The Pixies: Doolittle - Best song: No. 13 Baby, poppy punk, nice and angsty.
The Exies: Inertia - Best song: My Goddess, the best new band, I can't help but write Spike when this is playing.
Thirty Odd Foot of Grunts: Bastard Life or Clarity - Best song: Swept Away Bayou, Russell Crowe's deep voice makes me want to write PWP's.
Morcheeba: Fragments of Freedom - Best song: Shallow End, fun death of rock kind of album, A James Marsters's fave as well.
Beth Hart: Screaming for my Supper - Best song: Delicious Surprise, this is my pissed off chick music, very Joplinesque.
The Cure: Kiss me, Kiss me, Kiss me - Best Song: Just Like Heaven, This one's a gimme.
Assisted Living: K-12 - Best song: Drive Real Fast, one of my favorite local bands, and good friends, total rock, great fight music.
Paula Cole: Amen - Best song: Rhythm of Life, another angst ridden chicky baby
The Buck Pets: Mercurotones - Best song: Five O'clock or Thursday, absolutely sexy southern alternarock from the 90's.
School of Fish - Best song: Speechless, a band I fell in love with in college, the first time around, and it still makes me weak in the knees to hear it.
Eminem: The Eminem Show - Best song: White America, Oh admit it, you like it too.
Tracy Chapman - Best song: For my Lover, there is nothing easier than writing angst to this album
Beck: Sea Change - Best song: Lost Cause, one of the most beautiful songs to come out in a decade, I defy you to not cry.
Depeche Mode: Violator - Best song: Sweetest Perfection, This entire album makes me want to wiggle.
The Soundtrack of our Lives: Behind the Music - Best song: Sister Surround, a guitar riff that will never leave your brain.
Blues Traveler: Travelogue - Best song: The Mountains Win Again, sweet, soulful, bluesy at its best, so much more than the poppy band you think they are.
The Thorns - Best song: Thorns, makes me want to dance, which is not always something you expect from a folk album, Shawn Mullins, Pete Droge, and Matthew Sweet are the CSNY of our generation.

Like all of the other sections here, this part is open to suggestions. Got an album you can't write without? Send me the title and a blurb and I would be happy to put it up here.
